Dilapidated Bridge Shakes Under Heavy Vehicles, MLA Raises Safety Concerns

A damaged bridge continues to be used despite shaking when heavy vehicles pass over it. Locals are risking their lives daily, prompting the area MLA to question the authorities over urgent repairs.

The bridge of Bansagar Dam located on Shahdol-Rewa National Highway of Madhya Pradesh has now become a danger bell for the people. Every time a heavy vehicle passes through this bridge, the entire bridge starts shaking, the vibration is so strong that the people passing by get scared and hold the railing of the bridge. Four months ago, one pillar of this bridge was damaged, after which it was closed for two months. After repair, it was opened again, but now the vibration and cracks have again rung the alarm bell. This scene is not a part of any imagination, but a reality, which has been recorded live on camera.

This is of the bridge built on Bansagar Dam on Shahdol to Rewa road. This bridge of Bansagar also connects Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. This bridge, about 39 years old, is now unable to bear the pressure of its age and excessive weight. Its construction started in 1980 and was completed in 1986 and since then it has remained the main route connecting Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. But today the situation is such that this bridge can become the cause of a big accident any time. About 4 months ago the bridge was badly damaged. The bridge was closed for 2 months due to damage in the middle of the bridge. Meanwhile, the bridge was opened again after repair, regarding which BJP MLA Sharad Kol has now raised questions.
