Disabled Teacher Illegally Detained After Wife Obtains Fake Warrant in Indore

A disabled government schoolteacher in Indore was wrongfully arrested last year after his wife allegedly managed to have a fake recovery warrant issued in a domestic violence case. The matter has now reached the Madhya Pradesh High Court, where the man has sought strict action against all those involved in the alleged fraud.
The incident dates back to June 21, 2023, when police from Hatod Police Station detained the man overnight after receiving what appeared to be an official recovery warrant. The document was later found to be fraudulent and did not exist in the court’s order book.
The case originated from a domestic violence complaint filed by the wife, following which a lower court had issued an interim maintenance order of ₹8,500 for her and their child. The husband challenged the directive in a higher court, which subsequently set it aside. Despite the cancellation, the wife filed a fresh petition for recovery on March 13, 2023.
Investigators found that, although no warrant was issued by the court, the wife had handwritten “recovery warrant to be issued” on the process form forwarded to the Indore Superintendent of Police. Believing the document to be valid, the SP instructed the Hatod police to execute the warrant.
When the man was produced in court the next day, his counsel requested verification of the order. The court confirmed that no such warrant had been authorised and immediately ordered his release. It also sought an explanation from the process writer who had facilitated the false entry.
In February 2025, the husband filed a complaint at MG Road Police Station alleging that his wife had misled authorities and embezzled ₹2,80,500 during the legal proceedings. On October 13, 2025, he petitioned the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, seeking suo motu criminal action for fraud, forgery and conspiracy under Sections 245, 246 and 247 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The High Court has initiated an inquiry into the chain of events and the conduct of officials who processed the forged warrant. Further action is expected once the investigation report is submitted.
