Dismissed Cop Ramveer Kushwah Granted Bail in Atmaram Pardi Murder Case; CID Seeks Remand

In a significant development in the long-pending Atmaram Pardi murder case, the Gwalior High Court has granted bail to dismissed Sub-Inspector Ramveer Kushwah. However, in a fresh legal twist, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has now moved a district court application, seeking to take Kushwah on remand for further investigation in the same case.

Kushwah, a controversial figure during his police service, is accused of misusing his official position for criminal activities rather than preventing them. His career, which began as a constable in 1997, saw rapid promotions, including an out-of-turn promotion to Head Constable after a 2005 encounter.

The core of the case dates back to June 9, 2015, when Atmaram Pardi was taken into custody by SI Kushwah and his team from the banks of the Parvati River. The police claimed he was a suspect in a theft case. According to the Pardi family's court statements, Atmaram jumped into the river and was apprehended by constables, but he never returned. For years, the family fought for justice, with his mother Appi Bai refusing monetary compensation and insisting on legal action.

The police officially admitted to Atmaram's death in 2022, leading to murder and conspiracy charges against Kushwah. Despite securing bail, his legal troubles are far from over. He is currently named in five separate FIRs, including charges of witness intimidation, abetment to suicide, and a high-profile robbery in Delhi.

After his recent bail, a public celebration by his supporters in Guna, captured on social media, prompted police to intensify surveillance, leading to his subsequent arrest in another case. The CID's push for remand indicates that the legal battle for the dismissed SI is intensifying.
