Divine Adornment of Lord Mahakal on Ekadashi

On April 24, 2025, devotees gathered at Ujjain's Mahakaleshwar Temple to witness the special adornment of Lord Mahakal on the auspicious occasion of Varuthini Ekadashi. This sacred day, observed during the Krishna Paksha of the Vaishakha month, holds significant spiritual importance in Hinduism.

As soon as the doors of the temple were opened at 4 am on Thursday, spiritual energy filled the entire atmosphere.

Initially, Lord Mahakal was anointed with water, after which he was duly worshipped with traditional Panchamrit - milk, curd, ghee, honey and fruit juice. After this, Baba Mahakal was adorned with sandalwood, cannabis, garlands of fragrant flowers, Rudraksha garland and silver ornaments. Especially the Lord wore a silver crown in the shape of Sheshnag which was the center of attraction for the devotees. Mahakal's worship was completed by offering ashes. MAHAKAL (5)

Hundreds of devotees were present in the temple during the morning Bhasma Aarti. Devotees experienced spiritual happiness by having darshan and earned virtue. Devotees went near Nandi Maharaj and said their wishes in his ears and received blessings.

On this auspicious occasion, the temple premises echoed with the chants of "Jai Baba Mahakal". This great festival of devotion, faith and belief once again immersed Ujjain in the glory of Mahakaal.
