Driver Absconds with Gold Worth ₹4.80 Crore in Indore
Indore, Madhya Pradesh
A shocking case of theft has come to light involving a Gujarat-based jewelry trader whose driver fled with gold ornaments worth approximately ₹4.80 crore along with the car from outside a hotel in Indore. The incident, which took place around 12 days ago, has prompted the Crime Branch to register an FIR and intensify the investigation.
According to the complaint filed by Dharmendra Bhai, owner of “Ankit Gold Jewellery” and a resident of Ahmedabad, his driver, Masru Rabari, a native of Banaskantha district in Gujarat, had driven to Indore carrying gold ornaments. The car was parked outside Hotel Shivani near Gangwal Bus Stand when the theft occurred.
Came to Indore to Display Jewelry to Traders
Dharmendra Bhai’s employee, Saurabh, stated that they left Ahmedabad on July 8 with jewelry to showcase to traders. Along the way, they stopped at Lunawada, Santrampur, and Jhabua before arriving in Indore. Due to the high value of the consignment, the driver was instructed to stay with the vehicle at all times.
Employee Steps Away; Driver Disappears
While at the hotel, Saurabh went briefly to get a shave. On returning, he found both the car and the driver missing. Attempts to contact the driver were unsuccessful as his phone was switched off. After failing to trace him for several days, the trader approached the Crime Branch.
