Drone Helps Indore Police Catch 8 Gamblers; MD Drug Accused Arrested, 50 Habitual Offenders Detained During Holi

Special security arrangements made across the city to maintain law and order during festival
Indore: Eight people were caught gambling in Indore’s Dwarkapuri police station area after police spotted them using a surveillance drone deployed for Holi security monitoring. The accused attempted to flee after noticing the drone but were quickly apprehended by police officers. Authorities also seized ₹6,400 in cash from their possession.
The operation took place in Digvijay Nagar Multi on Wednesday during Holi celebrations. According to police officials, enhanced security arrangements were implemented in the area following instructions from Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anand Kalyadgi.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Vikram Dabar, Sunil Jat, Sunny Rathore, Sohan Sitaram, Mansharam Bhil, Rohit Shiva, Pankaj Rathore, and Jeevan Dabar. Police said the accused threw their playing cards on the ground when they noticed the drone hovering above them. A case has been registered against them under the Gambling Act, and further investigation is underway.
Accused Held With MD Drug
In a separate case, Hiranagar Police arrested a man for possessing MD drug (Mephedrone). The accused, identified as Vinay alias Bhanja, son of Shyam Bamaniya, is a resident of a slum settlement in the Samvid Nagar area near Kalka Mata Temple.
Police recovered more than 14 grams of MD drug from his possession. Officials said the accused has a long criminal history, with around 18 cases already registered against him, including offenses related to narcotics and illegal weapons.
50 Habitual Offenders Detained as Precaution
To ensure peaceful celebrations during Holi, Khajrana Police detained nearly 50 habitual offenders from the area as a preventive measure. According to police, the individuals were kept under observation during the festival and were later released after being warned.
Shops Temporarily Closed for Security
Meanwhile, police in the Lasudia area ordered dhabas, hotels, and tea stalls to close temporarily on Holi evening as part of precautionary security measures. However, liquor shops were allowed to remain open.
Officials said some shopkeepers attempted to reopen their establishments later in the evening. Police detained those individuals and brought them to the police station before releasing them after questioning.
Police authorities said these measures were implemented to maintain law and order and ensure that Holi celebrations across the city remained peaceful and incident-free.
