Drunk Driving Crash in Indore’s Ralamandal Kills Three, Including Former Minister’s Daughter

A tragic accident early Friday morning in Indore’s Ralamandal area claimed the lives of three young people when a speeding car collided with a stationary truck. Among the deceased are Prerna Bachchan (26), daughter of former Home Minister Bala Bachchan, and Prakhar Kasliwal (25), son of Congress state spokesperson Anand Kasliwal. A fourth passenger, Anushka Rathi, sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment at a private hospital.

When and Where:
The accident occurred around 5:15 am near Ralamandal, on a stretch frequently used by early morning commuters. According to DCP Krishna Lal Chandani, the car, a grey Tata Nexon, lost control and rammed into a truck parked along the roadside.

Circumstances of the Crash:
Police reports indicate that the four passengers were returning from a birthday party at Coco Farm, celebrating Prakhar Kasliwal’s birthday. The vehicle’s occupants had reportedly consumed alcohol, and liquor bottles were found inside the car. Intoxication led to the driver losing control, resulting in the fatal collision.

Victims:

  • Prerna Bachchan (26) – daughter of former Home Minister Bala Bachchan, MBA graduate from Mumbai, preparing for MPPSC examinations.

  • Prakhar Kasliwal (25) – son of Congress state spokesperson Anand Kasliwal.

  • Manasandhu (26) – from a family engaged in the transport business.

  • Anushka Rathi – seriously injured and admitted to a private hospital.

All four were residents of Indore: Prerna lived near Narmada Bhavan, Scheme No. 74, Prakhar in Tilak Nagar, Manasandhu in Bhawarkua, and Anushka in Royal Amar Green.

Emergency Response:
Following the crash, a crane was deployed to remove the mangled vehicle from the road. Former minister Bala Bachchan rushed to MY Hospital after being informed. Police reached the scene promptly and launched an investigation into the incident.

Investigation and Legal Action:
Authorities confirmed that alcohol consumption was a key factor in the accident. The investigation is ongoing to ascertain additional details, including the exact speed of the vehicle and potential violations of traffic safety laws.

The accident has once again raised concerns over drink-driving and road safety in Indore, prompting calls for stricter enforcement and awareness campaigns targeting young drivers.
