Fake matrimonial call centre busted in Indore

In a joint operation with Indore Police, the Haryana Police on Friday evening busted a fake matrimonial call centre running on Airport Road, Indore. The centre, operating under the name “Bharat Wedding & Community Matrimonial,” allegedly duped people by promising marriage alliances. The racket came to light after a youth from Haryana reported being cheated of a large sum of money.

Raid based on Jind Cyber Police tip-off

Acting on intelligence provided by the Jind Cyber Police, a team from Haryana and Indore conducted a raid at Flat No. 302, Aarti Apartment, Colony Nagar. During the search, police recovered 90 mobile phones, five laptops, and ₹1.4 lakh in cash.

DCP Krishnalal Chandani said the investigation began after a complaint from a youth in Jind district, who alleged he had been defrauded through a fake matrimonial proposal. Technical surveillance traced the suspects to Indore, prompting a swift raid by the Jind Cyber Police with support from the Aerodrome Police Station.

Four arrested, taken to Haryana

The four accused were apprehended from the spot and have confessed to their involvement during initial questioning. They were later taken to Haryana for further investigation.

Those arrested have been identified as:

  • Ritu, daughter of Harishchandra Namdeo

  • Pramila Rokde, wife of Suraj Dharmik

  • Priya, wife of Chhatrapati Rokde

  • Suraj, son of Bhagwandas Dharmik

Police have also seized the mobile phones, laptops, and other materials used in the scam.

Wider network under scanner

Investigators suspect the operation may be part of a larger interstate network targeting victims across several states through fake matrimonial websites and calls. Teams from both Jind and Indore Police are now examining digital evidence and tracing the money trail to identify other members of the racket.
