Flood of Devotion in Omkareshwar: Mass Bath in Narmada, Jyotirlinga Darshan, Gulal Use Banned

A sea of devotees gathered in Omkareshwar on Sawan’s third Monday, took a holy dip in the Narmada, and offered prayers at the Jyotirlinga. Authorities imposed a ban on gulal during the Lord’s procession.

On the third Monday of the month of Shravan, a unique confluence of faith was seen in the pilgrimage town of Omkareshwar. As soon as the doors of the temple opened in the morning, thousands of devotees rushed to visit Lord Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar Jyotirlinga. The temple premises echoed with the chants of 'Har Har Mahadev' and 'Jai Narmada'. Deputy Collector and Temple Incharge Mukesh Kashiv and Tehsildar Uday Mandloi informed that keeping in mind the crowd on this special occasion, the doors of the temple were opened in the morning. Darshan started with Mangal Aarti by the temple priest Pt. Jagdish Parsai. Devotees reached Sukhdev Muni Dwar in queues since morning to have darshan of their idol.
