Gwalior Minor Death Case: Stepfather’s Account Under Probe

Gwalior minor death case deepens as scene reconstruction and forensic findings raise questions over the stepfather’s version. DNA test planned.

The Gwalior minor death case has taken a fresh turn after scene reconstruction and forensic findings reportedly failed to support the stepfather’s account. Police are now expanding the investigation and preparing for DNA testing.

The investigation into the death of a 13-year-old girl from Gwalior has intensified after police found inconsistencies between the version narrated by her stepfather and the evidence gathered during forensic examination and scene reconstruction.

The girl, who had been reported missing from the Sirol area on May 24, was later found dead near the Sindh River in Bhind district’s Mau region. The recovery of the body, which was in a severely decomposed condition, has raised several questions about the circumstances leading to her death.

Reconstruction Raises Questions

Police officials conducted a scene reconstruction exercise on Saturday as part of the ongoing probe. According to investigators, the sequence of events described by the stepfather did not fully align with scientific and forensic indicators collected from the spot.

Senior police officers, including officials from the Gwalior range, reportedly reviewed the findings late into the evening. Investigators are now examining multiple possibilities while awaiting additional forensic inputs.

Focus on 25-Minute Gap

A crucial aspect of the investigation revolves around a 25-minute period on the night the girl allegedly died.

According to the stepfather’s statement, the family had gone to sleep on the night of May 24. He claimed that after a power outage around 11 pm, the girl’s mother noticed that her daughter was missing. The couple allegedly searched for her and later returned home to find the room locked from inside.

The stepfather told police that he entered the house by crossing a wall and, after nearly 25 minutes, opened the door and informed the family that the girl had died by suicide using a sari as a noose.

Investigators are now examining what transpired during those 25 minutes and whether the sequence described could have unfolded in the manner claimed.

Body Taken to Bhind

During questioning, police learned that the accused allegedly transported the body from Gwalior to Bhind after the girl’s death. Investigators believe he drove his vehicle to a fuel station, refilled it, and later travelled to the Sindh River area in Mau.

Police sources said the body was allegedly disposed of near the riverbank. The recovery of the remains several days later brought the case back into focus and triggered a detailed forensic inquiry.

Mother Under Investigation

The role of the girl’s mother is also being examined. Investigators are trying to determine how much she knew about the events that followed the child’s death.

Police officials indicated that if the death was a case of suicide, questions remain about why authorities were not informed and why the body was allegedly concealed. If evidence points to a different cause of death, investigators will assess the extent of involvement of all persons connected to the incident.

Both the mother and the stepfather are currently being questioned as part of the investigation.

Forensic Team Visits Spot

A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) visited the residence and carried out a detailed examination. Officials attempted to determine whether the circumstances described by the accused were practically possible and whether a single individual could have recreated the alleged sequence of events within the stated timeframe.

Initial observations have reportedly prompted investigators to look beyond the original version presented by the family.

DNA Test Planned

Police have decided to conduct DNA testing on the remains recovered from the Sindh River to conclusively establish the victim’s identity.

Investigators said confirming the identity of the recovered body is a key step before final forensic conclusions can be drawn. The DNA report, along with post-mortem and forensic findings, is expected to play a significant role in determining the direction of the case.

The death of the school-going girl has drawn considerable public attention in Gwalior and Bhind. As forensic reports are awaited, police maintain that all angles remain open and that the investigation is being guided by scientific evidence rather than statements alone.
