In Four Months, 51 Lives Saved: PM Shri Air Ambulance Service Emerges as Madhya Pradesh’s New Medical Lifeline
Rewa, MP
In a state where distance and time often determine the line between life and death, the PM Shri Air Ambulance Service has rapidly transformed emergency medical response in Madhya Pradesh.
Within just four months of its launch, the service has successfully carried out 51 life-saving missions, offering critically ill patients a crucial second chance at life.
This swift performance marks a decisive shift in how emergency healthcare is delivered across the state, especially in remote and hard-to-reach regions.
A Fleet Designed for Emergencies
The service is operated by Flyola, which has deployed a fixed-wing C-90 aircraft along with a multi-engine AW-109 helicopter, both exclusively dedicated to medical evacuation. Stationed permanently at Bhopal, these aircraft remain on 24×7 standby, ensuring immediate deployment whenever an emergency call is received.
The combination of fixed-wing and rotary aircraft allows flexibility—long-distance transfers to advanced hospitals as well as quick access to accident sites and remote locations.
From Newborns to the Elderly: Every Life Matters
The missions conducted so far highlight the wide medical spectrum handled by the service. Patients have ranged from 15-day-old newborns requiring urgent neonatal care to 84-year-old senior citizens battling critical illnesses.
Cases have included:
-
Severe road accident trauma
-
Cardiac emergencies
-
Critical head injuries
-
Time-sensitive organ transplant transfers
Each mission demanded precision, speed, and seamless coordination between medical teams, pilots, and hospitals.
A Clear Leap in Efficiency
Health Department data reflects a striking improvement in operational efficiency. While the earlier service provider managed around 65 patient transfers in an entire year, the current PM Shri Air Ambulance Service has nearly matched that figure in just four months—a clear indicator of enhanced readiness and responsiveness.
Night Operations Expand Reach
A major strength of the service lies in the induction of the AW-109 multi-engine helicopter, which is capable of both day and night operations. This capability has significantly improved access to patients in remote districts and ensured that critical cases are not delayed due to time or terrain constraints.
Safety and Compliance at the Core
All operations are conducted strictly in accordance with DGCA regulations. From pilot duty time limitations and weather assessments to visibility standards and airport classifications, every mission follows defined aviation safety protocols, ensuring patient and crew safety remains paramount.
A Ray of Hope for Vindhya’s Children
In the Vindhya region, the air ambulance service is proving to be nothing short of a blessing for critically ill patients, particularly children. In a recent mission, the service once again demonstrated its life-saving potential by rescuing a six-year-old girl from Mauganj in Rewa district, who was battling severe liver failure.
As the child’s condition deteriorated rapidly, doctors at the local hospital assessed that she required immediate advanced treatment beyond the available facilities. She was promptly referred to AIIMS Bhopal for specialized care. Acting without delay, the PM Shri Air Ambulance reached Rewa on airlifted the young patient to Bhopal, where she was admitted to AIIMS for critical treatment.
Medical experts stated that timely air evacuation played a decisive role in stabilizing the child’s condition, highlighting how rapid response can make the difference between life and death in such complex cases.
Free Service for Ayushman Bharat Beneficiaries
One of the most impactful aspects of the initiative is its cost-free availability for Ayushman Bharat card holders. This provision ensures that financial limitations do not stand in the way of life-saving treatment, especially for economically vulnerable families.
More Than a Scheme, A Lifeline
Today, the PM Shri Air Ambulance Service is no longer just another government initiative. It is steadily becoming a trusted emergency lifeline across Madhya Pradesh—where every take-off carries urgency, every landing carries hope, and every mission reaffirms the state’s commitment to saving lives when every second counts.
