Indore Airport Slips to Sixth Place in Latest ASQ Rankings, Management Promises Course Correction

Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport, Indore, has slipped two positions in the latest Airport Service Quality (ASQ) rankings, moving from fourth to sixth place nationally, according to the fourth-quarter 2025 survey released by the Airports Council International (ACI). The rankings are based on passenger feedback collected between October and December 2025.
The decline follows a marginal drop in Indore Airport’s overall score, which fell from 4.93 in the July–September quarter to 4.90 out of a possible 5. While the numerical difference was just 0.03 points, intense competition among India’s top-performing airports resulted in a noticeable shift in rankings.
At the national level, Pune Airport topped the list with 4.96 points, followed by Tiruchirappalli (Trichy), Goa, Dehradun, and Varanasi. Indore and Varanasi received identical overall scores, but variations across specific service parameters pushed Indore to sixth place.
The airport’s standing also declined in the Asia-Pacific region. Among 98 airports across 18 countries included in the survey, Indore slipped from 63rd to 68th position. Sixteen major Indian airports were assessed as part of the regional evaluation, reflecting growing competition within the country as well as across the region.
According to officials familiar with the survey findings, Indore Airport lost points in three of the 31 parameters assessed. These included ease of access to the airport—covering road connectivity and transport options—cleanliness of washrooms, and limited air connectivity to other cities. Passenger responses in these areas were enough to affect the airport’s overall comparative performance.
Airport authorities acknowledged the concerns highlighted in the survey and said corrective measures are already underway. Officials said efforts are being stepped up to improve sanitation facilities, strengthen coordination with local agencies to ease access, and work with airlines to enhance route connectivity. The focus, they added, is on ensuring measurable improvements in the coming quarters.
The ASQ survey is considered one of the most credible global benchmarks for airport performance, as it relies entirely on real-time passenger feedback. It is conducted only at airports handling more than 18 lakh passengers annually, covering aspects such as cleanliness, comfort, staff courtesy, and overall passenger experience.
Despite the slip, Indore Airport continues to feature among India’s leading airports in service quality. Airport management expressed confidence that targeted interventions and infrastructure upgrades would help the facility regain lost ground in subsequent ASQ assessments.
