Indore Airport to Add 200 New Seats; Terminal Expansion to Improve Passenger Facilities

At Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport, authorities have decided to install 200 additional seats in the terminal in response to rising passenger numbers. According to airport management, this facility will be implemented by April 2026 so travelers won’t face difficulty finding seating during peak hours.

Renovation of the old terminal is in its final stage. The work, costing ₹41 crore, is being carried out over an area of 6,000 square meters. Officials say that once completed, passengers will receive improved amenities and the terminal’s operational capacity will increase.

ATR Flights to Operate from Terminal-2

The new Terminal-2 will handle flights operated by 72-seater ATR aircraft. Currently, around 100 flights operate daily from the airport, including 36 ATR flights. Once Terminal-2 becomes operational, pressure on the main terminal will reduce and operations will become more streamlined.

New Facilities and Infrastructure

Terminal-2 will feature 14 check-in counters, 3 boarding gates, 3 lounges, and 2 conveyor belts. It will also include a food zone and parking facilities, providing passengers with a more comfortable waiting and travel experience.

Increase in Annual Passenger Capacity

Officials state that the airport currently handles about 4 million passengers annually. After Terminal-2 opens, capacity will rise to 5 million passengers per year. In the future, once a new terminal being built at a cost of ₹492 crore is completed, the airport’s total capacity is expected to reach up to 10 million passengers annually.

Overall, the addition of seats and terminal expansion will provide better waiting facilities, reduce crowding, and ensure more organized operations. Officials believe this step will strengthen the airport’s position as a major international hub in the state.
