Indore: Bus Conductor Harasses National Shooter, Driver Also Misbehaves; Passengers Allege Both Were Drunk

A national-level shooter from Pune was allegedly harassed by the conductor and driver of a private bus in Indore on Sunday night, prompting a police inquiry and renewed concerns over passenger safety on long-distance routes. The incident took place near Rajendra Nagar when the 30-year-old athlete boarded a Pune-bound private travel bus.

According to the complaint, the conductor made inappropriate physical contact as she entered the vehicle. When she objected, both the conductor and the driver allegedly misbehaved. The shooter reportedly defended herself and hit back, after which the two men absconded. Passengers on board told police that the duo appeared to be intoxicated at the time.

The confrontation left dozens of passengers stranded. Many stepped off the bus and contacted the company’s office for assistance. Police reached the spot shortly after being alerted. The vehicle remained halted through the night until the operator arranged a replacement driver around 4 a.m. on Monday, allowing the Pune-bound journey to continue.

The complainant approached the Rajendra Nagar police station, where an inquiry has been initiated. Sub-Inspector Shilpa Patidar confirmed the developments, stating that discussions with senior officers were under way and an FIR would be registered following preliminary findings.

Sunday’s incident adds to a growing list of harassment complaints reported on intercity buses. Earlier this month, a woman traveling on a Mumbai–Indore bus run by Hans Travels alleged inappropriate behavior by a co-passenger, while staff reportedly failed to intervene. The case was later transferred to Barwani after a video of the episode surfaced online.

Authorities say the latest case underscores the need for stricter supervision of bus crew and better safety protocols. Police have urged operators to ensure proper screening, monitoring, and training of staff to prevent such incidents and to act swiftly when complaints arise.
