Indore Doctors Remove 3 Rods, Save Laborer’s Life

Doctors at Indore's MY Hospital performed a life-saving five-hour surgery to remove three rods from a laborer's body, giving the young man a miraculous second chance at life.

Doctors at MY Hospital have achieved significant success in saving the life of a laborer. Nitesh Jaiswal, a 25-year-old from Deoria district, Uttar Pradesh, who had been working as a setter in Indore for the past four years, was involved in an accident on September 20th. During construction work in front of Phoenix Mall, he fell from the second floor and landed in a septic tank below. Three 12mm-thick iron rods protruding from the tank pierced his body. Two rods pierced his stomach, while another pierced his thigh. In critical condition, family members used ropes to cut the rods, and Nitesh was immediately brought to MY Hospital by the 108 ambulance. After an examination, doctors decided to perform an emergency surgery.

A Complex Five-Hour Operation
Dr. Sudarshan Odia, Professor of General Surgery, and his team carefully removed all the rods one by one in a five-hour operation. During the operation, a liter of blood accumulated in his abdomen was also removed. The rods had caused three punctures in the muscles, including the large and small intestines, which were stitched and repaired. Fractures to the spine and hip were also treated.

From the ICU to the General Ward
After the operation, Nitesh was kept under 24-hour observation in the ICU. Five days later, when his condition stabilized, he was shifted to the general ward. Doctors say he will be discharged from the hospital in the next two to three days.

Free Treatment
If this operation had been performed in a private hospital, it would have cost 4 to 5 lakh rupees. However, at MY Hospital, the entire treatment was free, and Nitesh's life was saved.

Contribution of a Team of Experts
The Head of the Department of General Surgery, Dr. Arvind Kumar Shukla, Professor Dr. Sudarshan Odia, Assistant Professor Dr. Sanjay Mahajan, Dr. Satish Verma, Dr. Yash Agarwal, Dr. Abhinay Soni, Dr. Arpit Tiwari, and Dr. Dhruv Singh Gohil were involved in this complex surgery.
