Indore Transgender Probe: Medical Tests Ordered After Phenyl Incident

In a significant development in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, all transgenders in the Nandlalpura area will undergo mandatory medical tests following a shocking incident where 24 transgenders consumed phenyl amid a dispute. The decision, announced on October 17, 2025, comes as the Indore police respond to growing concerns over alleged illegal activities and a stalled Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe.

The controversy escalated after a BJP delegation, including MP Shankar Lalwani and MLAs Ramesh Mendola, Mahendra Hardia, Madhu Verma, Malini Gaud, and Golu Shukla, met Police Commissioner Santosh Singh on Thursday at the Palasia office.

They demanded thorough medical examinations, document verification, and investigations into alleged money laundering and terror funding linked to transgenders Seema and Payal Guru.

The delegation also criticized the SIT, formed four months ago, for failing to submit a report or record statements, particularly regarding a May 30, 2025, incident involving a break-in at Kinnar Sapna Guru’s residence.

The SIT, led by Rishikesh Meena and including Additional DCP Anand Yadav and Sarafa ACP Hemant Chauhan, has been ineffective, especially after key members were transferred.

The BJP leaders, accompanied by senior lawyers, urged the Police Commissioner to assign an IPS officer to oversee the probe, which includes examining bank details, call records, and alleged Malegaon connections.

They also raised concerns about extortion through ‘neg’ collections during auspicious events and health risks like HIV due to reported physical abuse in the camps.

The phenyl-drinking incident, which disrupted Indore’s festive atmosphere, has prompted calls for stricter regulations, including registration of transgenders and halting coercive practices. The Police Commissioner has agreed to the demands, signaling intensified scrutiny in Nandlalpura.
