Indore Woman Accuses Live-in Partner of Rape, Fraud in Yamunanagar; Police Register Case

A woman from Indore has accused her live-in partner of rape, cheating and criminal intimidation, alleging that he sexually exploited her for over a year after luring her with a false promise of a railway job. Based on her complaint, Yamunanagar police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed at Jagadhri City Police Station, the woman alleged that the accused, Mukesh, a resident of Indore, first came into contact with her through an acquaintance who claimed to have links in the railways. The complainant stated that she was introduced to Mukesh by a woman known to her, who also works in the railways, and was assured employment in return for money and documents.

The woman told police that she had already been deserted by her husband and was living separately with her three children when the accused gained her trust. She alleged that Mukesh took ₹1 lakh in cash along with gold and silver jewellery on the pretext of securing her a railway job. He also allegedly collected her Aadhaar card, photographs and signatures on documents written in English.

In December 2023, the accused allegedly called her to Indore, where she was offered tea that caused her to lose consciousness. When she regained consciousness, she claimed she found herself naked and realised she had been sexually assaulted. The woman further alleged that when she protested, the accused emotionally pressured her and promised to keep her with him.

According to the complaint, the accused then arranged a rented accommodation in Indore, where he allegedly raped her repeatedly. During this period, the woman became pregnant and gave birth to a child on September 8, 2024. She alleged that after the child’s birth, the accused gradually distanced himself and later brought her to Yamunanagar, arranging another rented house.

The woman claimed that Mukesh initially visited her every few weeks and provided household expenses but later stopped all support. She alleged that he refused to acknowledge the child, did not arrange the promised job and eventually threw her out of the house. She further claimed that the accused threatened to kill her and the child if she approached the police.

Jagadhri City Police Station in-charge Virendra Singh confirmed that a case has been registered on the basis of the woman’s complaint. “The allegations are serious. An investigation is underway and appropriate legal action will be taken after verifying all facts,” he said.

Police officials said efforts are on to arrest the accused and examine the role of others named in the complaint. The case has once again highlighted concerns over exploitation under false employment promises and the vulnerability of women living without family support.
