Indore Zoo to Launch Madhya Pradesh’s First 14D Jungle Safari Theatre by February

Indore Zoological Park is set to introduce Madhya Pradesh’s first 14D jungle safari theatre, a high-tech attraction aimed at offering visitors an immersive, real-life wildlife experience. The facility, developed as part of the zoo’s ongoing beautification project, is in its final stages and is expected to become operational by February, officials said on Monday.

The project is being implemented under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, with a private agency entrusted with design, installation and technical operations. Zoo authorities believe the theatre will significantly enhance the park’s appeal while promoting awareness about wildlife and natural ecosystems through technology-driven storytelling.

According to officials from the Indore Municipal Corporation, the 14D jungle safari theatre has been designed to go far beyond conventional 2D or 3D film experiences. The setup combines advanced visual effects, motion-enabled seating and surround sound systems to create a multi-sensory environment that closely simulates real jungle conditions.

Viewers will not only see wildlife on screen but also feel the experience through physical effects synchronized with the visuals. For example, scenes involving strong winds, fast movement or dramatic encounters will be accompanied by motion, vibrations and environmental effects, making audiences feel as if they are part of the forest itself.

Each show will have a seating capacity of 40 viewers, ensuring controlled entry and a focused viewing experience. A distinctive feature of the project is its entrance, which is being constructed in the form of a giant gorilla replica. Officials expect this striking structure to become a visual landmark within the zoo and a popular photo spot for visitors.

Zoo officials explained that the term “14D” refers to the inclusion of 14 different experiential elements that engage multiple human senses simultaneously. Such technology is widely used in international theme parks and simulation centres but is being introduced for the first time in Madhya Pradesh in a wildlife-focused format.

Authorities said the theatre is intended to cater to all age groups, from children to senior citizens, offering entertainment alongside education. By presenting wildlife in an engaging yet controlled environment, the zoo aims to draw more visitors while reducing pressure on live animal exhibits.

With construction work nearing completion, final testing and trial runs are expected to begin soon. Officials said safety checks and quality assessments will be carried out before the theatre is opened to the public.

Once operational, the 14D jungle safari theatre is expected to emerge as a major attraction for Indore, strengthening the city’s position as a regional tourism hub and adding a modern dimension to the zoo’s visitor experience.
