ITBP Jawan Held After Car Runs Over Four Outside Bhopal Railway Station

Four pedestrians were injured on Monday evening after a speeding car driven by an Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) constable rammed into them outside the Bhopal railway station. The accused, identified as Constable Rajendra, was caught by bystanders while trying to flee and later handed over to the police.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. near the road leading to Platform No. 6. According to police and eyewitness accounts, Rajendra, a resident of the ITBP campus in Kokta, had driven to the station in his private car to pick up a guest. In the process, he lost control of the vehicle, striking four people at separate points along the busy stretch.

Station House Officer (SHO) Ajay Soni of GRP Bhopal confirmed that all four injured were immediately taken to a nearby hospital. “The victims are under treatment, and none of them are reported to be in critical condition,” Soni said.

Eyewitnesses alleged that the driver appeared intoxicated. Police officials stated that the accused was sent for a medical examination to verify whether he was driving under the influence of alcohol. “A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered. Further action will depend on the medical report,” the SHO added.

The accident caused brief chaos outside the station, with local residents and passengers rushing to assist the injured before the police arrived. The damaged car was later towed to the police station for inspection.

Police sources said preliminary investigation suggests the driver was speeding on a congested road. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to confirm the sequence of events. The ITBP has been informed of the incident, and departmental action is expected once the investigation concludes
