Jabalpur Businesswoman’s House Attacked Again With Stones and Crude Bombs; Girl Injured, Police Launch Probe

A house belonging to a woman entrepreneur was attacked for the second time in recent months on Sunday night in Jabalpur’s Chungi Chowki area, where a group of 20–25 miscreants allegedly hurled stones and crude bombs, leaving a young girl seriously injured and triggering panic among local residents.

Police said the injured girl, identified as Jasmine, sustained facial injuries after a bomb exploded near her during the attack. She was rushed to Jabalpur District Hospital, where she is undergoing treatment. Her condition is reported to be stable.

The incident occurred late Sunday night in the jurisdiction of Ghamapur police station. By the time police teams reached the spot, the attackers had fled. Locals told police that the assailants appeared to be the same group that had earlier targeted the house with arson and stone-pelting incidents.

According to the family, the house belongs to tent business owner Poonam Thadani. She alleged that the attack was led by Jitu Thakur and Yash Thakur along with 20–25 associates. The family claims the group is attempting to forcibly take over their house and an adjoining plot through repeated acts of intimidation, violence, and threats.

Thadani said the violence began after she protested against the alleged harassment of school and college girls in the locality by the same group in November last year. “After I raised my voice against their behaviour, they started targeting my family,” she said, adding that earlier incidents included stone pelting, arson, damage to vehicles, and open threats.

Police records show that on November 20 and 25, 2025, the house was allegedly attacked with stones and partially set on fire. Complaints were submitted, but the family alleges that lack of strict action emboldened the accused. On Sunday night, the attackers again targeted the house with stones and crude bombs, escalating the violence.

Family members said that during the attack, women inside the house poured water from the rooftop to protect themselves and prevent further injuries, which helped deter the assailants temporarily.

Ghamapur police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Explosive Substances Act. “Teams have been formed to identify and arrest those involved. CCTV footage and eyewitness statements are being examined,” a senior police officer said.

The repeated attacks have created fear in Chungi Chowki, with residents demanding increased patrolling and strict action against those responsible. Police said the investigation is ongoing and assured that no one involved would be spared.
