Digital Desk
In a shocking incident of revenge gone violent, a man opened fire inside a popular restaurant in Jabalpur after feeling insulted during a family dinner. The accused, Golu Kabadi alias Mahesh Vishwakarma, fired four rounds at the owner, causing widespread panic among diners. Police swiftly arrested him and his accomplice while they were en route to seek "forgiveness" at Sai Baba's shrine in Shirdi, Maharashtra.
The altercation began on October 2 at Abhinandan Restaurant in Teen Patti Chowk. Golu, accompanied by his pregnant wife, was dining when their table was jostled. A waiter named Raju asked him to sit properly, sparking an argument. Restaurant owner Ashwin Pariya intervened, escalating the situation. Feeling humiliated in front of his wife, Golu left without finishing his meal, harboring resentment.
For five days, Golu searched for the owner and waiter. On October 7 evening, he spotted Ashwin at the restaurant. Armed with a pistol and accompanied by Anoop Kewat, Golu stormed in and unleashed four shots. Ashwin ducked behind the counter, narrowly escaping injury. Chaos ensued as customers and staff fled the scene. CCTV footage captured Golu dramatically exiting with the weapon.
Madan Mahal police recovered four empty cartridges and identified Golu, who has a criminal history including assault, extortion, and liquor offenses. After the shooting, the duo hid in Bargi Dam forest before fleeing to Shirdi in a car brought by Golu's wife. Authorities tracked them via CCTV from multiple locations, spotting their blue scooter heading toward Bargi.
A devotee of Sai Baba, Golu confessed during interrogation: "I had sinned. I attempted murder. That’s why I was going to seek forgiveness at Sai Baba’s temple." He admitted the firing stemmed from the insult before his wife. Police recovered the hidden pistol and scooter from Bargi forest. The weapon was sourced from a friend in Ghamapur; investigations continue to trace its origin.
On Sunday, both accused were presented in court and remanded to jail. CSP Kotwali Ritesh Kumar Shiv confirmed the ongoing probe. This Jabalpur restaurant shooting highlights rising concerns over petty disputes turning deadly, urging better conflict resolution in public spaces.
