Khelo MP Youth Games 2026 Conclude in Bhopal Today; Young Athletes Shine Across Disciplines

The Khelo MP Youth Games 2026 will conclude on Saturday with a formal closing ceremony scheduled at 5 pm at the Kushabhau Thakre Auditorium in Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel will attend the event as the chief guest, marking the culmination of a multi-tier sporting competition that brought together young athletes from across the state.

The closing ceremony will be attended by selected players, coaches, sports officials and enthusiasts. Outstanding performers and divisions will be honoured for their achievements across various sports categories, officials said.

Ahead of the finale, Cooperation, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang reviewed preparations at the Major Dhyan Chand Hall at Tatya Tope Stadium along with senior departmental officials. The review focused on stage arrangements, prize distribution, event flow and coordination for the closing ceremony. Officials were instructed to ensure smooth conduct of the programme and timely recognition of athletes.

The Khelo MP Youth Games began on January 13 and were conducted at block, district, divisional and state levels. Competitions were held across 28 sports disciplines, with participation from both rural and urban regions. Officials said the games were designed to broaden the talent base, promote grassroots sports and identify athletes with potential for higher-level competition.

Several events witnessed strong performances, particularly in water sports held at Lower Lake, Bhopal. Kayaking and canoeing competitions drew attention as boys and girls displayed speed, balance and technical precision. In the C1 Girls 200m final, Pragati Sharma of Bhopal won gold with a timing of 50.476 seconds, followed by Mahi Shaoo of Tikamgarh and Vedika Bishnoi of Harda. Divyani Dugar of Bhopal claimed gold in the C2 Girls 500m event.

Bhopal also dominated team events, winning gold in both the K4 Girls 500m and K4 Boys 500m races. Tikamgarh and Harda featured prominently on the podium across categories.

Boxing competitions at TT Nagar Stadium delivered high-quality bouts. Young boxers impressed with disciplined technique and competitive intensity. Multiple gold medals were secured in boys’ and girls’ categories, reflecting depth in the state’s boxing talent.

In cricket, the Under-19 Boys final saw Bhopal Division defeat Gwalior Division by 159 runs to clinch the title and a cash prize of ₹31,000. Gwalior finished second, while Sagar Division placed third.

Minister Sarang said the games were not just about medals but about building a strong sporting culture in Madhya Pradesh. Officials added that performances witnessed during the event would help shape future training and selection pathways for national and international competitions.
