A major case of cough syrup smuggling has surfaced in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh, where police arrested a man and seized 285 bottles of intoxicant cough syrup hidden inside a luxury vehicle. The accused, who once worked as a photographer, allegedly turned to illegal activities in pursuit of a lavish lifestyle.

Police Action Based on Tip-Off

The operation was carried out by the Saman police station team following a tip-off from an informant. Acting on the information, officers reached the residence of the accused and conducted a search. During the inspection, a luxury car parked outside the house raised suspicion. Upon checking the vehicle, police recovered 285 bottles of banned cough syrup concealed inside.

Authorities revealed that the accused used the car to store and transport the illegal stock. The supply network reportedly extended to nearby areas, especially along the Govindgarh route, where the contraband was distributed.

From Photographer to Drug Smuggler

Investigations suggest that the accused, identified as a resident of Govindgarh, previously worked in photography. However, driven by the desire for a more luxurious lifestyle, he abandoned his profession and allegedly got involved in the illegal drug trade.

Police sources also confirmed that his name had surfaced in a narcotics-related case registered in December. Since then, he had been under surveillance, and this latest operation led to his arrest.

Ongoing Interrogation to Expose Network

According to CSP Rajeev Pathak, the arrest was made after confirming the intelligence input. He stated that the seized cough syrup falls under the category of controlled substances and its illegal possession and distribution is a serious offense.

The accused is currently being interrogated to gather details about his associates and the broader smuggling network. Police believe that further arrests may follow as the investigation progresses.
