Madhya Pradesh to mark 70th Foundation Day with ‘Abhyudaya Madhya Pradesh’ celebration

Madhya Pradesh is gearing up for a grand three-day celebration of its 70th Foundation Day, themed ‘Abhyudaya Madhya Pradesh’, to be held from November 1 to 3 at Lal Parade Ground, Bhopal.

The state government has declared November 1 a public holiday to encourage maximum public participation in the festivities, which will highlight Madhya Pradesh’s cultural, economic, and social journey over the decades.

This year’s focus, “Year of Industry and Employment,” underscores the state’s progress in industrial growth and job creation. The celebration will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, with Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu and Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal as chief guests.

Celebrating heritage and progress

At a press briefing, Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi said the event reflects the state’s “heritage, progress, and public spirit.” He announced that all districts will organize parallel cultural programs, ensuring widespread participation from students, artists, and local communities.

Day 1 (November 1): Heritage to development

The celebrations will open at 6:30 p.m. with a 2,000-drone light show illustrating the theme “From Heritage to Development.” The show will be followed by “Vishwavand – The Musical Journey of Shri Krishna,” a spiritual performance featuring 500 artists, and a live concert by singer Jubin Nautiyal, concluding with a grand fireworks display.

Day 2 (November 2): Drama and devotion

On the second day, Ujjain’s Vishala Cultural Committee will stage the epic play “Samrat Vikramaditya,” depicting the legendary ruler’s valor and wisdom. The evening will close with a performance by devotional singer Hansraj Raghuvanshi.

Day 3 (November 3): Encore and music

Responding to popular demand, the play “Samrat Vikramaditya” will be staged again on the final day, followed by a concert by playback singer Sneha Shankar, marking the grand finale of the festival.

Fairs, exhibitions, and folk traditions

Alongside the main stage events, the celebration will include:

  • “One District – One Product” craft fair

  • “Swad” indigenous cuisine fair

  • Exhibitions on Developed Madhya Pradesh 2047, Temples of Devlok, and Development through Heritage

Folk and tribal dances such as Karma, Bhagoria, Badhai, and Gangaur will be performed on November 2 and 3 from 3 p.m. onwards, showcasing the cultural diversity of the state.

Adding to the festive spirit, cultural processions and parades will be held on October 30 and 31, setting the stage for Madhya Pradesh’s milestone celebration of 70 years of unity, progress, and cultural pride.
