Major Accident in Satna: Pickup Truck Carrying Devotees to Maihar Overturns, Over a Dozen Injured
Satna, MP
Panic spread in the Bandhi Mauhar area of the district on Monday morning when a pickup truck carrying devotees to Maihar overturned after losing control. More than 12 people were injured in the accident, several of whom are reported to be in serious condition. The injured were promptly taken to the district hospital, where they are currently being treated.
According to preliminary information, the vehicle was overloaded with passengers. The devotees were on their way to seek blessings at Maihar Devi temple when the vehicle lost balance near Bandhi Mauhar and overturned on the roadside.
Hot food was also stored in the vehicle, and when it overturned, some of it spilled onto the injured passengers, causing burn injuries as well. Locals quickly responded, rescuing those trapped under the vehicle and notifying the local police.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the report and have launched an investigation. Initial findings suggest overloading and high speed as probable causes of the accident.
This incident has once again raised concerns over the use of overloaded and unsafe vehicles during religious pilgrimages. The district administration has started monitoring the treatment of the injured and has issued orders for appropriate action.
