Major Overhaul in Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana: Mass Marriages Now Limited to 4 Days Annually

The Madhya Pradesh government has introduced significant reforms to the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah/Nikah Yojana. Mass marriage events will now be organized only four times a year, on a divisional and rotational basis, as per a pre-scheduled calendar. Each event will accommodate a minimum of 11 and a maximum of 200 couples.

The Madhya Pradesh government has made important changes in the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah/Nikah Yojana. According to the amendments made by Dr. Mohan Yadav's government, now under this scheme, mass marriage programs will be organized only four days in the whole year. These amendments will come into effect from May 15.

Marriages will be organized on four special dates

According to the new rules, mass marriages will be organized on Basant Panchami, Akshaya Tritiya, Tulsi Vivah (Devuthani Gyaras) and one departmentally decided date. That is, now marriages will be organized only on four special occasions.

The government has fixed the minimum number of couples involved in mass marriages as 11 and maximum as 200. This arrangement has been made keeping in mind the effective implementation and monitoring of the scheme.

The bride gets Rs 49,000

Under this scheme, an assistance amount of Rs 49,000 is directly transferred to the bride's bank account. Apart from this, Rs 6,000 is given to the organizers for the arrangements of the event. Other conditions of the scheme will remain the same as before.

The Chief Minister congratulated the newlyweds

Recently, hundreds of couples tied the knot under this scheme in ceremonies organized across the state on Akshaya Tritiya. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav also blessed these newlyweds.
