Man Arrested for Threatening Gwalior Health Officer

A man has been arrested from Katni district for repeatedly threatening Dr. Manoj Kaurav, the District Health Officer of Gwalior. The accused, Manish Pradhan, allegedly demanded ₹15 lakh and sent 87 threatening messages over the course of 26 days.

According to the police, the motive behind the threats was personal revenge—Dr. Kaurav’s wife had dismissed Pradhan's girlfriend from her beauty parlor.

Threats to the Officer and His Family

The harassment began on September 20 when Dr. Kaurav’s wife, Sunita Kaurav, received the first threatening call from the number 7441135496. The caller claimed that he had been hired to kill the couple for ₹11 lakh and demanded ₹15 lakh to spare their lives. Over the next few days, the accused continued to harass the couple through calls and WhatsApp messages, even sending images of a pistol to intimidate them.

Dr. Manoj Kaurav revealed that the continuous threats made him and his wife fearful of stepping out alone. “He repeatedly said that a contract of ₹11 lakh had been taken to kill us and that we must pay ₹15 lakh to survive,” the officer said.

Police Track Accused Using Mobile Location

Following the complaint, the Gola Ka Mandir police registered a case on September 22. The investigation revealed that the accused was using WhatsApp and phone calls to threaten the couple. A breakthrough came two days ago when the police traced the mobile location of the accused and identified him hiding in Katni district in the Mahakoshal division of Madhya Pradesh.

Two-Day Manhunt Ends with Arrest

Police teams from Gola Ka Mandir Thana conducted a two-day operation in Katni to apprehend the suspect. On Wednesday night, the accused, Manish Pradhan, was finally arrested. During interrogation, he confessed to his identity.

Further investigation revealed that the incident was personal. About five months ago, Sunita Kaurav, who runs a beauty parlor, had dismissed a young woman named Pooja from her job. Pooja is Manish Pradhan’s girlfriend. Enraged by this, Pradhan allegedly planned to threaten Dr. Kaurav and his wife.

Police Take Strong Action

The Gwalior police have confirmed that the accused will be brought to Gwalior for further investigation. They are gathering evidence, including call records and WhatsApp messages, to strengthen the case against him.
