Mohit Chauhan Suffers On-Stage Fall During Bhopal Concert, Viral Video Prompts Clarification from Singer’s Team

Singer Mohit Chauhan suffered a brief on-stage mishap during his performance at AIIMS Bhopal’s annual cultural fest, Retina 8.0, on Sunday night. The 59-year-old playback singer, who was performing his hit track “Nadaan Parindey,” tripped over a lighting fixture placed near the rear end of the stage and fell mid-performance.

The incident occurred as Chauhan moved backward toward an unlit section of the platform. His foot struck a floor-mounted lighting unit, causing him to lose balance. Team members standing close by rushed to assist him, helping him back on his feet within seconds. Chauhan resumed singing immediately, and the audience, unaware of what had happened, continued cheering.

The fall became public only after a video recorded from near the stage emerged online on Monday. The clip shows Chauhan stepping toward the back of the stage, stumbling over the equipment, and collapsing before being lifted up by crew members. Because the LED screens were displaying crowd visuals instead of the live stage feed, most spectators did not witness the mishap in real time.

The viral footage triggered concerns among fans, with many commenting on social media about the singer’s age and the risks posed by unsafe stage setups. Several users criticised event organisers for placing lighting equipment in high-movement areas without adequate visibility.

Chauhan’s team has called the circulating video “misleading.” Neeraj, a member of the singer’s management, said the clip “shows only a partial moment” and added, “Mohit is absolutely fine and successfully completed his full performance at Retina.” He also said the team is contacting those who uploaded the video to provide context.

The AIIMS Retina 8.0 organising committee has not issued an official statement on the matter.

Chauhan, known for chart-toppers such as “Sadda Haq,” “Dooba Dooba,” “Kun Faya Kun,” and “Nadaan Parindey,” remains one of the country’s most sought-after live performers, frequently headlining concerts across India.
