Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Tuesday announced the establishment of four new medical colleges in the Bundelkhand region, to be set up in Damoh, Tikamgarh, Panna, and Katni. The institutions are expected to become operational from the next academic session, aiming to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the region.
Addressing the media after chairing a three-day cabinet meeting in Khajuraho, CM Yadav also unveiled major infrastructure and industrial initiatives. The Damoh ‘Jhapad Nala Medium Irrigation Project’ has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs 165 crore, while Sagar will host a new industrial park projected to attract investments exceeding Rs 24,000 crore and create 30,000 jobs. Additionally, the Sagar–Damoh four-lane road project was approved to improve regional connectivity between two national highways.
Tourism development was another key focus. The government has allocated ten new safari buses for Panna National Park to enhance the jungle safari experience, catering to both tiger and elephant sightings. Earlier in the day, several ministers, including Prahlad Patel, Vijay Shah, Inder Singh Parmar, Lakhan Patel, and Dilip Ahirwar, visited the Panna Tiger Reserve and observed wildlife during a guided safari.
CM Yadav also announced that Madhya Pradesh will receive eight cheetahs from Botswana in January as part of the cheetah reintroduction program, with new habitats being developed in Durgavati and Nauradehi sanctuaries.
Other significant decisions include ₹397 crore sanctioned for the expansion of state fire services, upgrades for 12 hospitals, skill development opportunities for 600 youth under the Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Department in Germany and Japan, and the creation of a new Aryavarta centre to serve as an international hub for tribal communities.
The cabinet meeting, conducted over three days in Khajuraho, reflects the state government’s push for balanced development across healthcare, industry, tourism, and wildlife conservation. Officials emphasized that these initiatives are aimed at boosting employment, enhancing infrastructure, and promoting Madhya Pradesh as a hub for education and sustainable development.
