MP Govt Raises DA to 58%, Approves OBC Training Scheme

Madhya Pradesh DA hike to 58% benefits 12 lakh staff; OBC training scheme and guest faculty salary revision cleared in key cabinet decisions

DA Hike Announced

In a major relief for government staff, the Madhya Pradesh DA hike to 58% has been approved for nearly 12 lakh employees and pensioners. The decision, taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, increases Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) by 3 percentage points.

The revised rate, effective from April, will raise DA from 55% to 58%. Officials indicated that the move aligns with inflation trends and central government benchmarks.

Salary and Arrears Impact

Following the DA revision, employees are expected to see a monthly increase ranging from ₹465 to ₹4,230, depending on their pay scale. Arrears are also likely, estimated between ₹4,185 and ₹38,070.

However, despite the announcement, the Finance Department is yet to issue a formal notification. Sources said the delay has left employees awaiting clarity on disbursement timelines.

Financial Burden Details

The DA hike will benefit approximately 7.5 lakh employees and officers, along with 4.5 lakh pensioners across the state. Pensioners will receive DR at the revised 58% rate.

According to official estimates, the decision will impose an additional financial burden of around ₹2,450 crore on the state exchequer. Despite this, the government has maintained that employee welfare remains a priority under ongoing Government Updates.

OBC Training Scheme Approved

In another key decision, the cabinet cleared the ‘Shaurya Sankalp Training Scheme 2026’ aimed at improving recruitment prospects for Other Backward Class (OBC) youth.

Under this scheme, 4,000 youths will be trained annually for entry into defence and security forces, including the army, police, and home guards. The programme will offer four months of residential training.

Male trainees will receive a monthly stipend of ₹1,000, while female trainees will be given ₹1,200, officials said. The initiative is being seen as a targeted Public Interest Story under broader employment generation efforts.

Guest Faculty Salary Revised

The cabinet also approved a significant increase in honorarium for guest faculty working in disability institutions. The monthly payment has been doubled from ₹9,000 to ₹18,000.

Officials noted that the revision aims to address long-standing demands and improve retention in specialised teaching roles.

AI Mission for Governance

The state government has also proposed the launch of a ‘State AI Mission’ to enhance governance efficiency. The initiative will focus on sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, nutrition, and disaster management.

As per the plan, groundwork will begin in 2026-27, followed by large-scale implementation in 2027-28. A permanent AI-driven governance system is expected to be established from 2028 onwards, marking a key India News Update in digital governance.

Projects and Future Outlook

The cabinet further approved the continuation of projects worth ₹6,940 crore, including irrigation initiatives and nutrition programmes. Among notable decisions were additional support for severely malnourished children and a judicial inquiry into a water pollution case in Indore.

A total of 20 agenda items were discussed during the meeting. Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya participated virtually, officials confirmed.

The Madhya Pradesh DA hike to 58% is expected to have a direct impact on household incomes and consumer spending, while parallel initiatives in training and governance signal a broader administrative push. As per reports, employees are now awaiting the formal notification to operationalise the revised benefits, making this one of the Trending News India developments in recent days.
