MP Weather Update: Rain Alert in 35 Districts, Heatwave in Some Areas

Unseasonal summer showers resembling monsoon rains are expected in 35 districts of Madhya Pradesh, while certain regions brace for intense heatwaves.

While usually there is severe heat and heat wave at this time, this time the weather has taken a turn and a period of rain, hail and storm like Sawan-Bhadon is being seen. On Wednesday, the weather suddenly changed in many parts of the state, and the situation is likely to remain the same on Thursday as well.

Hailstorm on Wednesday

On Wednesday, there was strong storm and rain in more than 13 districts of the state.

Hail fell in the villages of Sehore.

There was scorching heat in Bhopal-Indore till noon, but later light rain brought relief.

Rain continued in districts like Vidisha, Ratlam, Dhar, Raisen, Sagar, Balaghat, Narmadapuram, Rewa and Chhindwara.

Rain somewhere, heat somewhere: Khajuraho becomes 'Hot Taj'

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather of the state has been affected by the effect of cyclone and trough line formed in the Arabian Sea.

Khajuraho was the hottest, where the temperature was recorded at 46°C.

Naugaon 45.2°C, Tikamgarh 44.5°C, Guna 44.4°C, Shivpuri 44.2°C, Satna 43.6°C and Damoh had a temperature of 42°C.

Rain alert issued in these districts today
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of strong storm and rain in these districts on Thursday, May 23:

Orange alert (possibility of strong storm and hailstorm with rain):
Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Anuppur, Dindori, Mandla, Balaghat, Seoni, Betul, Harda, Barwani, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Khandwa, Khargone, Burhanpur

Yellow alert (possibility of storm and rain):
Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Satna, Sidhi, Singrauli, Sehore, Shajapur, Shahdol, Umaria, Rewa, Mauganj, Raisen, Vidisha, Dewas, Dhar, Ratlam, Narsinghpur, Narmadapuram

Heat wave will continue in these districts
While on one hand many districts are getting relief from rain, the threat of heat wave remains in Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh and Chhatarpur. People have been advised to be cautious of hot winds and strong sunlight in these areas.

Monsoon may arrive by 15th June
This time Nautapa will start from 25th May and will continue till 2nd June. If the weather department is to be believed, this time monsoon may enter Madhya Pradesh before time, i.e. by 15th June.
