Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav offered prayers at the revered Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple late Monday night and Tuesday morning, performing special rituals and promoting hygiene among devotees.
The leaders began with the Shayan Aarti on Monday. Tuesday saw them conduct a joint abhishek and 20-minute Shodashopachar puja in the sanctum sanctorum, led by priest Akash, seeking prosperity and well-being.
Afterward, accompanied by state BJP in-charge Mahendra Singh, they visited the temple's Ann Kshetra. There, they distributed prasad, ate poha alongside common pilgrims, and carried their own plates.

In a pointed gesture aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat mission, Nadda and Yadav disposed of used plates in dustbins themselves. They emphasized equality among devotees and personal responsibility for temple cleanliness.
The visit underscores devotion ahead of the 2028 Simhastha fair, with the duo scheduled to review ongoing development works for the massive pilgrimage event.

Such high-profile temple visits highlight the blend of spirituality and public messaging in political outreach, reinforcing campaigns on sanitation in sacred spaces.
