Nagda TI Saves Man Attempting Suicide; Timely CPR Gives Him New Lease of Life

A young man who attempted to end his life by hanging was saved due to the swift response and presence of mind of Nagda Police Station In-Charge (TI) Amritlal Gawri, whose timely intervention and CPR helped revive the victim and prevent a fatal outcome.

The incident occurred around 1:30 am late Monday night near a water tank on Janmejay Marg in Nagda. According to police officials, the youth attempted suicide inside a room close to the water tank. His father, who noticed the incident in time, immediately sought help from TI Gawri, who was on routine night patrol in the area.

Acting without delay, the station in-charge rushed to the spot. Finding the room locked from inside, he broke open the door and climbed up to bring the youth down. By then, family members believed the man had died and were in a state of shock.

Drawing on his police training, TI Gawri immediately began administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Within moments, the youth showed signs of breathing, prompting the police to rush him to MP-13 Hospital for further medical care.

Doctors at the hospital confirmed that the quick CPR and immediate medical attention were crucial in saving the young man’s life. Medical staff said that any further delay could have resulted in irreversible damage. After close monitoring and treatment, the patient’s condition stabilised, and he was discharged later the same day.

Police officials also acknowledged the assistance of Rajesh Morwal, a member of the Nagda City Security Committee, who helped manage the situation and supported the police during the emergency response.

Hospital authorities praised the police officer’s presence of mind, noting that first responders trained in basic life-saving techniques can make a decisive difference in critical situations. “This case underlines how timely CPR can save lives, even in severe emergencies,” a doctor said.

Senior police officials commended TI Gawri for his professionalism and calm handling of the situation. They said the incident highlights the importance of continuous training for police personnel, not only in law enforcement but also in emergency medical response.

The youth has since returned home and is reported to be in stable health. Family members expressed gratitude to the police and doctors for their prompt action, calling it a second chance at life.

Authorities reiterated the need for greater awareness around mental health issues and urged people facing emotional distress to seek timely support and counselling.
