Ujjain city was facing water shortage for the last one and a half months due to almost drying of Gambhir Dam. Now only 8 days of water is left in the dam. In such a time of crisis, the city got a big relief on Friday, when 129 MLD water of Narmada reached Gambhir Dam through pipeline.

Will be connected to the water supply system

At around 4:30 in the evening, this water came to the dam from the intake built under the rural area's Nal-Jal Yojana. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abhilash Mishra said that the pipeline work of connecting directly to the intake at Gaughat will be completed in four days. After this, Narmada water will be directly connected to the water supply system and supply in the city will become easy.

Currently, the daily water requirement of Ujjain city is 112 MLD. 129 MLD water will keep coming from Narmada every day, which will provide great relief to the city residents. However, this water will not be able to fill the dam completely, because it requires 6 MCFt of water every day. Still, for the time being, this step will prove to be life-saving for Ujjain.
