Over 2,000 Cases of Power Theft Detected in Removed Old Meters

During inspections, more than 2,000 cases of electricity theft have been uncovered in old meters that were recently removed from the city, exposing large-scale power misuse.

During the checking of old meters removed from consumer premises by Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company during the installation of smart meters in Bhopal city, in NABL lab, shocking facts have come to light. 2 thousand 40 cases of technical faults, resistance or other tampering have been detected in such old meters removed from the consumer premises.

Billing of more than 4 crore 19 lakhs

Billing of more than 4 crore 19 lakhs has been done by the company on these consumers accused of tampering, out of which in 1 thousand 219 cases, consumers have accepted the tampering of the meter and deposited an amount of more than 2 crore 19 lakhs in the company's account.

More than 3 lakh 35 thousand smart meters installed so far

More than 3 lakh 35 thousand smart meters have been installed so far by Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company in the entire company area. During the installation of smart meters, the company is replacing old meters and new smart meters are being installed in consumer premises.
