Pipe Falls on Tehsildar During Encroachment Drive in Morena; Illegal Structures Cleared Near Phatak Bahar

Following repeated complaints of traffic congestion and illegal encroachments in Morena’s Phatak Bahar area, the Municipal Corporation conducted an anti-encroachment drive on Wednesday morning with police support. Using JCB machines, officials removed temporary tin sheds and street vendors’ carts that were blocking the main road. The operation was carried out before the markets opened to avoid public resistance.

During the drive, Tehsildar Sitaram Verma sustained a head injury when an iron pipe from a tin shed accidentally fell on him. He received medical attention following the incident.

The area frequently experienced traffic jams as shopkeepers had extended tin roofs over the road and vegetable vendors occupied roadside spaces. Acting on persistent complaints, the Municipal Corporation began clearing the encroachments around 7 a.m., completing the operation in about an hour. Dozens of tin structures and carts were removed.

Mayor Sharda Solanki stated that while the corporation aims to ensure no trader suffers undue loss, encroachments on public roads will not be tolerated. She added that alternative spaces will be allotted to vegetable vendors so their livelihoods are not affected.
