PWD SDO Daryav Singh Parmar killed in Bolero crash in Dewas

Public Works Department SDO Daryav Singh Parmar from Betul died in a road accident in Dewas on June 19 after his Bolero rammed into a concrete wall. He suffered crushed head and severe chest injuries. Survived by wife and two children. Police probe underway.

A senior Public Works Department officer posted in Betul district lost his life in a horrific road accident in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas district on Friday afternoon.

The victim, identified as Daryav Singh Parmar, was Sub-Divisional Officer with the PWD. He was driving his Bolero towards Dhar to bring his family back when the vehicle suddenly went out of control and slammed into a roadside concrete wall and iron structure. The impact was so severe that Parmar suffered critical head injuries, including a crushed skull, along with major chest trauma.

Local residents who rushed to the spot pulled him out of the mangled vehicle and rushed him to the Community Health Centre in Kannod. Doctors there examined him but could only declare him dead on arrival.

The accident has sent shock waves through the PWD department in Betul, where Parmar had been serving since his transfer from Dewas in 2021. Colleagues described him as a dedicated officer and expressed profound grief over the sudden loss.

Parmar is survived by his wife, a 12-year-old daughter and a seven-year-old son. His family had been informed of the tragedy, though they had not yet reached Kannod at the time of the initial reports.

According to preliminary information, Parmar was on a personal trip when the mishap occurred. The exact reason behind the vehicle losing control is not yet clear. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. A post-mortem examination will be conducted in Kannod before the body is handed over to the family.

Road accidents involving government officers on personal or official duties have been a recurring concern in Madhya Pradesh. The state’s highways, particularly stretches in districts like Dewas, often see high-speed traffic mixed with poor visibility or sudden obstacles.

This tragedy comes at a time when the PWD is handling several key infrastructure projects across the region. Parmar’s colleagues said his absence will be deeply felt in ongoing works under his charge.

Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses. Police are examining the condition of the vehicle and possible factors like mechanical failure or road conditions that may have contributed to the crash.

The incident has once again highlighted the vulnerability even of experienced drivers on Madhya Pradesh roads. Many in the department recalled Parmar’s long years of service and commitment to public works.

As the family prepares to receive the body, the entire local administration in Betul and Dewas is in mourning. Officials said support will be extended to the grieving family in the coming days.
