Rajasthan STF Raids RKDF University Campuses in Bhopal, Searches Director’s Residence Over Marksheet Irregularities

The Rajasthan Police Special Task Force (STF) on Tuesday conducted coordinated search operations at two campuses of RKDF University in Bhopal and at the residence of the institution’s director, Sunil Kapoor, as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged marksheet irregularities. The action marks a significant escalation in a probe that spans multiple states.

According to officials familiar with the operation, STF teams simultaneously entered the Gandhi Nagar and Narmadapuram Road branches of RKDF University. A separate team reached Kapoor’s residence at House No. 10 in Bhopal. Notably, local police authorities were not informed in advance about the searches.

At the Narmadapuram Road campus, the STF reportedly sealed the main gate and began scrutinising academic and administrative records. University staff present inside the premises were not allowed to leave during the search, while students were temporarily barred from entering or exiting the campus. Officers were seen examining files and digital records linked to academic certifications.

Sources said the searches are linked to an investigation into forged or irregular mark sheets, one of which was allegedly issued by RKDF University. The Rajasthan STF is examining whether university records were misused or manipulated to facilitate the issuance of such documents. Officials have not yet disclosed the number of documents seized or whether any arrests have been made.

The case has revived attention on earlier legal controversies involving the RKDF group. In December 2015, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in Madhya Pradesh had registered an FIR related to alleged irregularities in concessions granted to RKDF Institute of Science and Technology. The case had named several high-profile figures, including then Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh, former Technical Education Minister Raja Pataria and Sunil Kapoor, the Executive Chairman of RKDF Education Society. Following investigation, the accused were later given a clean chit.

Separately, Sunil Kapoor has faced legal scrutiny in Telangana. An FIR was registered against him there on allegations of issuing fake degrees from RKDF University. Telangana Police had taken Kapoor into custody in connection with that case, which remains part of the broader scrutiny into academic fraud.

Officials indicated that the current searches are part of a larger inter-state investigation and further action will depend on the evidence collected during the operation. The Rajasthan STF is expected to share its findings with concerned agencies, including education regulators and state police forces.

University authorities have so far not issued an official statement on the raids. The investigation is ongoing.
