Rewa: Police Seize 3 Quintals of Ganja Worth ₹50 Lakh in Major Drug Bust
Rewa, MP
In a significant crackdown under the ongoing anti-narcotics campaign, the Mangawan police have seized a massive consignment of illegal ganja weighing approximately 3 quintals. The operation was conducted near the Amha Canal area, close to Raghunathganj town.
Led by Station In-Charge Varsha Sonkar, the police team acted on a precise tip-off received from an informant. On Sunday, officers conducted a swift raid near the canal and intercepted a suspicious vehicle. Upon inspection, they discovered a large quantity of contraband cannabis inside the car.
The total market value of the seized ganja is estimated at ₹44 lakh, while the vehicle used for transportation is valued at ₹6.5 lakh, bringing the total seizure to approximately ₹50.5 lakh.
“This is one of the largest drug seizures under our ongoing special operation against narcotics,” said SHO Varsha Sonkar. “We are currently identifying the suspects and probing deeper into the network.”
The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and launched a detailed investigation. Officials believe the consignment could be linked to an inter-district or even cross-border smuggling network.
