UP’s Nagina MP and Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad Ravan’s former girlfriend, Dr. Rohini Ghavri, on Tuesday said she was unable to attend his November 26 rally in Indore, claiming she could not leave Switzerland due to a pending visa renewal. Her absence came amid heightened anticipation that she would appear at the event after days of public sparring between the two on social media.
Rohini said she has applied for an urgent revision at the Indian embassy but cannot enter India until the process is cleared. “I can travel within Europe, but without the renewal I cannot return to India,” she wrote, adding that her travel photo posted a day earlier triggered speculation about her arrival.
Officials in Indore confirmed that police and the district administration had tightened security around the rally, anticipating unrest if Rohini attempted to attend. Azad issued a recorded, closed-door statement for the rally and circulated it to the media, which Rohini alleged was done to pre-empt her presence.
She further claimed that the National Commission for Women has taken cognisance of her complaints against Azad after several rounds of submissions. According to her, the Commission has formally registered the case and assured that action will follow.
The dispute between Azad and Rohini has escalated over the past weeks, with Rohini levelling allegations of sexual exploitation under the false promise of marriage, concealment of marital status, misuse of legal provisions to harm her career, and provoking her to attempt suicide. She has also accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of shielding Azad, calling his organisation the BJP’s “B-team.”
Azad has not issued a detailed public response to the latest allegations. The matter is expected to draw further scrutiny as the Women’s Commission proceeds with its inquiry.
