Scindia at Urs of Baba Mansoor Shah Aulia

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia paid obeisance at the Urs, continuing the 300-year-old royal family tradition.

Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister in the Government of India and Maharaja of Scindia royal family, is currently on a visit to Gwalior Chambal region. During this time, he reached Devghar located in Maharajbada Gorkhi as per the royal tradition of his royal family. He attended the Urs of Baba Mansoor Shah Aulia, the idol and guide of the Scindia family. He took blessings by offering prayers as per their royal tradition.

Actually, as per the tradition of Scindia royal family, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia reached Devghar located in the Gorkhi premises of Maharajbada. There, he wore a dhoti in traditional style and prayed to Baba Mansoor Shah Aulia. A dome of flowers was decorated here. Scindia sat there and waited until a flower fell down from that dome. Meanwhile, bhajans were being sung in traditional style with the tune of musical instruments. As soon as the flower fell, he picked it up with devotion and bowed his head, then the old chieftains of the Scindia royal family and the relatives of the people present there congratulated him.

This is the story of worship
The Scindia family has been following the tradition of worship of Sufi Auliya for more than 300 years. The story behind this is very interesting. It is said that Mansoor Shah himself blessed the Scindia family to turn into a royal family and gave them half a roti. This roti is still safe with the Scindia family. Auliya Mansoor Shah Sohrawardi was the guru of the great Maratha army leader Mahad ji, the founder of the Scindia monarchy. Mansoor Shah's native place is in Beed district of Maharashtra and the Scindia family also originally belongs to a village in Satara district of Maharashtra.

Traditional worship three times a year
The Scindia family had built a temple named Devghar at Maharajbada in Gwalior. In its sanctum sanctorum, there are idols of all Hindu gods and goddesses besides Jyotiba Nath Maharaj, the family deity of the Scindia family. The remains of Baba Mansoor Shah are also safe in this. They are worshipped regularly. It is worth mentioning that according to the tradition of the dynasty, the current head of the royal family comes here at least three times a year to perform traditional worship in the prescribed royal attire. Especially on the occasion of Vijayadashmi, the second day of Shraddha Paksha and the Urs of Mansoor Shah, Jyotiraditya Scindia also participated in the Urs as per this tradition.
