Sehore Residents Protest After Encroachment Removal, Police Face Backlash

Tensions escalated in Budhni, Sehore late last night as locals protested against the police following the removal of encroachments from government land near the PWD office.

Authorities had cleared approximately 1,500 square meters of land using bulldozers and JCB machines, supported by a significant police presence.

The encroachment had been carried out by a man named Madhav Singh, who had constructed a tin-shed to house livestock and had started permanent construction. The administration acted after repeated complaints and a notice regarding unauthorized use of government property.

During the operation, some encroachers resisted and argued with officials, but the strong police presence kept the situation under control. Following the clearance, police arrested Madhav Singh, Bhaiya Lal, Sheelu, and Sarla. Angered by the arrests, several residents staged protests and raised slogans against the police late into the night, questioning the approach and efficiency of law enforcement.

The incident highlights the delicate balance authorities must maintain between enforcing laws and managing public sentiment during such operations.
