Sewer Digging in Shahdol Turns Fatal: Bodies Recovered After 15 Hours, Negligence Blamed

A tragic incident occurred in Shahdol where two workers lost their lives during sewer digging. After 15 hours of relentless efforts, their bodies were recovered. Initial reports suggest that negligence and lack of safety measures led to the fatal accident.

 

A tragic incident took place in Ward No. 1 under Sohagpur police station area of Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh, when two workers got buried in the soil due to land sliding during the digging of the sewer line. The rescue team took out the bodies of both the workers after about 15 hours of hard work. After the accident, there was an atmosphere of chaos and grief in the entire area.

According to the information, a private company of Gujarat was laying a sewer line in the city. Excavation was going on to lay the pipeline, when suddenly the soil collapsed and two workers, 40-year-old Mukesh Baiga and 33-year-old Mahipal Baiga, both residents of Kotma, got trapped in it. Immediately after the incident, a rescue operation was carried out for about 5 hours to rescue a laborer, but he was taken out in a dead state. At the same time, relief work continued throughout the night to search for the other laborer, and after about 15 hours of hard work, his body was also taken out from the debris by digging with a Poklane machine on Friday morning.
