Silver jubilee Abhivyakti Garba: 5-day fest at BHEL Dussehra Ground opens with Maa Durga aarti

The 25th Abhivyakti Garba Festival opened in Bhopal on Wednesday evening at the BHEL Dussehra Ground. The five-day celebration began with the grand aarti of Goddess Durga, followed by the festival’s signature tune that set the pandal vibrating with the sounds of dandiya. Thousands of participants dressed in colourful traditional attire filled the venue, marking the start of the silver jubilee edition.

The event once again became a stage for creativity and traditional pride. Participants arrived in Gujarati, Kathiawadi and other regional outfits, with jewellery and designs reflecting the diverse culture of India. The craze to stand out was evident as each contestant aimed to be the centre of attraction.

The stage is bigger than last year, where the singers of Abhivyakti will perform with their live musical choir. At Abhivyakti, 12 lanes have been made on both sides of the main entry gate. For the first time, two exit gates have been made nearby. This will allow people who want to leave the ground to exit easily. Six entry lanes have been made at the rear entry gate.

The Garba ground has been made larger than last year. The participants' circle, which used to be 80 feet, is 100 feet this time. So that more and more participants can express their devotion through dance during the Navratri days.

Facilities provided at the event

·         More than 10 spaces for parking.

·         There will be e-rickshaws for commuting from the parking to the ground, and this service will be free.

·         Six entry lanes have been made on both sides of the main gate. Two exit gates have been made nearby.

·         At the rear entry gate, there will be 3 lanes each for entry of mobile app and offline ticket holders.

·         The food zone includes more than 30 dishes from 10 states.

This year, the organisers installed a 3 lakh-watt sound system, ensuring a uniform experience across the massive ground. The theme for the silver jubilee year is Pichwai, an art form associated with Shrinathji. The decoration and setting highlighted the tales of Lord Krishna, his divine love and playful raas, adding spiritual colour to the evening.

The Abhivyakti Garba Festival 2025 will continue till September 28, filling Bhopal’s nights with colour, rhythm, devotion and the joy of its silver jubilee year.

The cultural extravaganza, the food festival remains a huge attraction. Around 35 stalls are offering dishes from ten states, including Banarasi, Marathwada, Amritsari and Jodhpuri cuisines. For youth, Indo-Chinese food options are available, while fruit-based fasting meals cater to those observing religious fasts. The variety has added flavour and excitement to the festive nights.
