Suspended Sabalgarh SDM Arvind Mahor Accused of Ongoing Harassment: Family in Fear as Young Girl Drops Studies

The ordeal began last month when the family lodged a complaint against Mahor for inappropriate behavior. Reports indicate that the SDM had been making late-night calls to the young woman, filled with obscene remarks.

When she stopped responding, Mahor reportedly shifted his aggression to her relatives, including an uncle whom he allegedly abused and threatened on September 5. A video capturing the hostile encounter, including death threats and the snatching of a phone, went viral, prompting swift action from the state government.

Chief Minister Yadav, responding to the complaint posted on X (formerly Twitter), ordered Mahor's immediate suspension on September 19, citing misconduct, harassment, and illegal transfers.

The move was hailed as a step toward accountability, but the family claims the harassment hasn't stopped. "Even after suspension, he's threatening us relentlessly," the mother alleged in recent statements, detailing how anonymous calls and veiled intimidations have created an atmosphere of terror. 

As a result, the young girl, previously pursuing her studies, has been compelled to drop out, fearing for her safety and that of her loved ones.

Local authorities in Morena district have acknowledged the fresh complaints, with the collector initiating an inquiry into the ongoing threats.

However, the family expresses frustration over the lack of immediate protection, accusing Mahor of misusing his lingering influence to implicate them in false cases.

This case has sparked widespread debate on power misuse by officials and the effectiveness of suspensions in curbing such behavior.

Advocates for women's rights in Madhya Pradesh are calling for stricter measures, including potential arrest and enhanced security for the affected family.

As investigations continue, the incident underscores the challenges in addressing harassment by those in authority, leaving the Sabalgarh community on edge.
