Jabalpur: In a tragic incident in Ponda village, under the Sihora police station jurisdiction, a minor drowned in a village pond after playing Holi with friends. The deceased has been identified as Ved Rai, who went to bathe in the pond after Holi festivities and accidentally drowned in deep water.
Incident Details
According to reports, the incident occurred on Wednesday evening. Ved Rai, along with his friends, had been playing Holi in the village until late in the evening and then went to the pond to cool off. While bathing, he inadvertently entered deeper waters and began to drown. Friends tried to rescue him, but he went missing in the water.
The news quickly spread in the village, and family members along with local residents rushed to the scene.
Rescue Operation
On receiving information, Sihora police and the State Disaster Emergency Rescue Force (SDERF) team reached the spot and started a search operation. Despite efforts on Wednesday evening, Ved could not be located. The search resumed on Thursday morning, during which his body was recovered from the pond.
Post-Incident Actions
The police have taken custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. An investigation into the incident is underway. The tragic event has left the village in mourning.
