Mad Dog Rampage in Omkareshwar: 6 Bitten, 2 Children Critical

A mad dog created panic in Omkareshwar, attacking six people in a single day. Two children are in critical condition and undergoing treatment.

A mad dog spread panic in the new bus stand of Omkareshwar in Khandwa on Sunday. In a single day, the dog attacked and injured a total of six people including two children. The condition of two of these children is said to be critical. As soon as the information was received, the local citizens who reached the Nagar Parishad office informed the administration about the situation. Showing promptness, the council team reached the spot and after a lot of effort caught the mad dog. After which the people of the area heaved a sigh of relief.

Medical in-charge of Civil Hospital Omkareshwar, Dr. Ravi Verma informed that on Sunday, six cases of dog bite came to the hospital. Out of these, two children were seriously injured by the dog on the jaw and face. Both the children have been sent to a better government hospital after immediate primary treatment. The other four injured have been given anti-rabies injection. Dr. Verma said that a dog bit an 8-year-old child near the jaw in such a way that he had to get several stitches. Doctors also looked worried after seeing the deep wounds on the faces of the children.

Local people say that with the increase in heat, violent tendencies are being seen in animals. Due to lack of adequate food and water, wild and stray animals are becoming aggressive. Sunday's incident is also being considered a result of this. Municipal Council Chief Executive Officer Sanjay Geete has appealed to the citizens to pour cold water on the animals roaming in the city, especially stray dogs, so that their restlessness due to heat can be reduced.

Also, parents have been requested not to send small children out alone and be cautious. This incident also points towards the increasing problem of stray animals in the area. The Municipal Council has announced to run a special campaign soon for animal capture and control so that such incidents can be prevented in future.
