Three killed in firing at businessman’s house in Mandsaur; police cite transaction-related dispute

Three people were shot dead in a firing incident at the residence of a businessman in Mandsaur’s Gol Chauraha area on Wednesday evening, triggering panic in the neighbourhood. Police said all three victims died on the spot, and preliminary investigation points to a transaction-related dispute as the possible motive behind the crime.

According to police officials, gunshots were heard from inside the house, following which local residents rushed to the spot and alerted the authorities. A pistol and a knife were recovered from the scene. Senior police officers, including Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar Meena and Additional SP T.S. Baghel, reached the location along with a heavy police contingent to assess the situation and secure the area.

Police said the incident occurred within the premises of the house, suggesting that the assailant or assailants were known to the victims. While officials have not yet disclosed the identities of the deceased, sources indicated that the matter appears to be linked to a financial or business transaction that escalated into violence. “Initial findings suggest it is a transaction-related incident. All aspects are being examined,” a senior officer said.

Following the incident, additional police force was deployed in and around Gol Chauraha to prevent any law and order issues. The area was cordoned off, and forensic teams were called to collect evidence. Investigators are examining ballistic evidence, CCTV footage from nearby establishments, and statements of family members and neighbours to reconstruct the sequence of events.

Local residents said they were alarmed by the sound of multiple gunshots and rushed out of their homes. “We heard firing and saw people gathering outside the house. Police arrived quickly and sealed the area,” a neighbour said. The incident has caused shock and fear among residents, given its occurrence in a busy locality.

Police have registered a case and formed multiple teams to probe the circumstances leading to the shooting. Officials said the role of each individual present at the time of the incident is being verified, and past disputes related to money or business dealings are under scrutiny. Post-mortem examinations will be conducted to ascertain further details.

Senior officers said more clarity would emerge once the identification of the deceased is completed and statements of key witnesses are recorded. The administration has appealed to the public to maintain calm and refrain from spreading rumours, assuring that strict action will be taken against those responsible.

The incident adds to concerns over violent crimes linked to personal and financial disputes, with police reiterating the need for timely resolution of conflicts through legal means.
