Three Youths Die After Falling from Culvert with Motorcycle in Seoni Malwa

Three unidentified young men were found dead beneath a culvert near Keer Dhaba in Hathnapur village on Thursday morning, in what police suspect to be a late-night road accident.

Villagers first noticed a damaged two-wheeler and three bodies lying under the culvert and immediately alerted Dial 112. Police personnel reached the spot soon after, secured the area and took custody of the bodies. Inquest proceedings were conducted at the scene before the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.

Officials said the identities of the deceased have not yet been established. Preliminary findings suggest the trio may have fallen from the culvert along with their motorcycle during the night, leading to instant death.

Ramjeevan Sadh, Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat Chautlay, said initial indications point to an accident. “It appears that the three youths lost control of the vehicle and fell from the culvert late at night. The impact seems to have been severe, and they died on the spot,” he said.

The culvert is located along a rural stretch frequently used by local commuters. Residents said visibility in the area is limited at night, and there are minimal protective barriers along certain sections. However, police have not confirmed whether poor lighting, speeding, or any other factor contributed to the incident.

Seoni Malwa police have begun a detailed investigation to ascertain the exact sequence of events. Officers are inspecting the accident site for skid marks, vehicle damage patterns and other physical evidence. The motorcycle has been seized for examination.

Authorities are also questioning residents and nearby shop owners to gather information about the victims and determine where they were travelling from and heading to at the time of the accident. Missing persons reports from neighbouring districts are being cross-checked to help establish their identities.

Police officials said that until further evidence emerges, the case is being treated as an accidental death. The post-mortem reports are expected to provide clarity on the cause and time of death.

The incident has raised concerns among villagers about road safety along the stretch, particularly at night. Local representatives have urged authorities to review safety measures around culverts and install proper signage to prevent similar tragedies.

Further updates are awaited as the investigation continues.
