Umang Singhar Questions Government’s Intentions

Amid rising political tension over the caste census, Umang Singhar targeted the government, questioning the timing and intent behind the move, especially in light of the upcoming Bihar elections.

The Home Ministry has issued a notification for the census on Monday (16 June). The central government will conduct the census in two phases. According to the notification, the first phase will start from October 1, 2026. The second phase will start from March 1, 2027. At the same time, politics has also started regarding the caste census. Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Umang Singhar has fiercely targeted the central government regarding this. He said that why is the government talking about caste census now? Is it because there is an election in Bihar.

Congress leader of opposition Umang Singhar, who reached Khandwa, attacked the central government regarding caste census and said that why are they talking about caste census now? Is it because there is Bihar election! Or Rahul Gandhi raised a flame and then there was talk of caste census.

The Leader of Opposition said that you want to snatch the issue, I want to ask the central government that when the Lok Sabha elections come in 2029, will you complete the caste census before that? Will you complete the delimitation, will you give reservation to women. All these things should be clear in this. Nothing happens by issuing a notification. If your intention is clear then clear instructions should be given in this.
